Deer Creek Speedway

New Faces Sit In Deer Creek Victory Lane

Spring Valley, MN

By: Todd Narveson

Another nice field of 116-cars descended on the Deer Creek Speedway for night two in 2024. This week’s program was presented by Rent-N-Save, J&S Outdoors along with Randy & Sandy Norby.

Highlights of the program saw one driver get his first Deer Creek win, another end a seven-year dry spell, another a five-year winless streak and another get his first ever Modified win.

Fifteen cars took the green flag for the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. Cole Neisius would take of from row one and open up a huge lead. Christopher Deno worked from sixth to third on lap four.

Deno then passed Collin Wittenberg for second on lap six. At that point Neisius held an over two second lead over Deno. Deno could not make up any time and it looked like Neisius might get his first ever win.

But a caution flew on lap 13 and negated the big lead for Neisius. That put Deno and defending track champion Kadden Kath right behind the leader for the restart.

Neisius did everything he could to fend off Deno and Kath in a really good racer for the lead. Deno snared the lead when the white flag flew and drove to his first ever Deer Creek win.

Neisius ended up second with Kadden Kath, Kobie Kath and Kylie Kath rounding out the top five spots.

Dustin Gulbrandosn started in row one of the Meadow Greens Golf Course USRA Hobby Stock feature and never looked back. Gulbrandson led all 18-laps for his fifth win overall this season.

The race behind the leader was good with Luke Schluetter finishing second. Nick Schwebach started 16th and had to change a tire early on. Schwebach got back on the track and charged from the back to third. Caden Helle finished fourth with Dustin Doughty in fifth.

Twenty-six Kid’s Drams Come True USRA B-Mods took the green for their 18-lap main event. Jackson Hale took the lead off of row one followed by Kaeden Bronner and Dustin Kruse.

Kruse would move to second while Hunter Kennedy was on the fly from 11th to enter the top five on lap five. Kruse would challenge Hale for the lead on lap six and Hale spun. Kruse was ruled the cause and went to the tail.

Hale led on the restart while Kennedy had vaulted to second. A couple of yellow flags would slow the race with the final one on lap 15.

Hale would lead the pack to the checkered flag for his first win at Deer Creek since August 19. 2017. Kennedy finished second with Caden Neisius third. Harley Dais came from 12th to finish fourth and Zach Elward charged from 23rd to fifth.

Blake Adams dominated the Rochester Chevrolet-Cadillac USRA Stock Car feature. Adams would lead all 20-laps for his first win at Deer Creek since August 3, 2019.

Brandon hare would finish in second with Brayden Gjere in third. Shawn Peter would come home fourth and Cole Mather would round out the top five.

Twenty-seven NAPA Auto care Centers USRA Modifieds took to the track for their 25-lap main event. Joe Chisholm started on the pole and opened up a big lead. Nick Murgic and Zach Brom tried to keep pace with Chisholm.

Joe Chisholm led the entire 25-laps to score his first ever Modified win. Older brother Jim Chisholm raced from 10th to second but his younger brother did not allow him to catch up.

Murgic had a great run in third as did Brom who finished in fourth. Parker Hale would round out the top five. Another highlight of the race was Jake O’Neil who came from 13th to sixth and Brandon Davis who ran from 27th to seventh.
