Holy Cow, Remember that one night at Deer Creek!

Spring Valley, MN

May 22nd, 2021: Eric Thronson

118 racers brought hopes & dreams to the Creek. Many realized them, others had them shattered with a side of Heartbreak.

Napa Auto Care Center USRA Modifieds:  27 Mods put on a show at Deer Creek, as everyone was gearing up and preparing for the USMTS show next week. It was a “wide-open-Go-Fast Festivalâ€?, from the drop of the green on the first heat race to the very last turn of the feature. Drivers, from KS, TX & NM joined our local heroes and it all came down to one of the best, “slide-jobâ€? exhibitions I’ve witnessed in a long time between Rodney Sanders of Happy TX and Dustin Sorensen. They ran WIDE OPEN for the last three laps with Dustin finally carrying so much momentum through three and four that Sanders couldn’t catch him to make the slide job happen. Next weeks USMTS show will be something you will not want to miss.

Wissota Super Stocks:  12 Super stocks ran the Creek in spectacular fashion despite the heavy weight of concern for one of their own, Schatney Sanders was leading his heat race when suddenly his car slowed, down the front straight, coming to a stop between turn 1 & 2. The long Red Flag was due to his driveshaft breaking and injuring him.  Everyone was racing with Schatney on their mind. Brandon Duellman battled Ryan Wiome door to door for the final three laps and took the hat trick away from Wiome by less than a car length, overtaking him out of turn four going to the flag stand. AWESOME WIN.

USRA B-Mods: What a run Jim Chisholm is putting together at Deer Creek. He has now won the last 6 features dating back to the sweep of the fall Jamboree in 2020. The Feature was a great race throughout the field as Schubbe, Joe Chisholm, Mann, Alseth, Ausrud, Wytaske and Dunbar ran three and four wide for 2nd through 7th.   Jim Chisholm makes a habit of Winning!  Not a bad Habit to have.

Adams Grafix, Wissota Street Stocks:  What a night of racing by the 19 street stocks at the Creek. Their feature stayed green for the first 16 laps, with the top ten running three wide, LAP after LAP after LAP. Clean racing for the lead all the way to the end when Dustin Doughty found that extra bite out of Four and lead the only lap that matters, THE LAST ONE to the checkers for two in a row. So many up and coming young new drivers running with the experienced wheelmen and women in this class, worth the price of admission.

Dirt Dr. Trucking, Wissota Midwest Mods:  21 racers ran through the heats races with very few cautions, however, the Red Flag on Lap 7 of the feature, turned into heartache for Tianna Mithun, “leading the featureâ€?, and Mitch Weiss, 3rd on the restart. As they reached turn one, contact put both cars into the wall at the exit of the raceway. Both cars were heavily damaged, but both drivers were able to walk away. Thank God for all the safety equipment and keeping both drivers protected. Once we resumed green flag racing the Dan Wheeler in the BIG RED 1, battled to the very end with Ryan Goergen in the 12G to take win and we were both Breathless in Tralo Victory Lane.
