Deer Creek Speedway

Week 2 provides side by side, edge of your seat racing!

Spring Valley, MN

May 8th, 2021: Eric Thronson

86 racers made it a great night at the Creek.

Napa Auto Care Centers USRA Modifieds: provided fast, close heat races and the feature was even better, with only one caution as Brandon Davis took the lead by lap 3. Brandon sailed his Mod up into the cushion and never looked back. Ryan Wetzstein was fast and made a run on the restart, but Davis was just on a mission and became the second weekly FEATURE WINNER, at Deer Creek Speedway!

Dirt Dr. Trucking, Wissota Midwest Mods:  What an “edge of your seat, down to the wire featureâ€?!  With Billy Steinberg leading from his pole position for every lap except the last one, it was a heartbreaker for Billy. But the race between Billy, Kadden Kath, Mitch Weiss and Dylan Goettl, was worth the price of admission, as there was never more that a car length between the four of them for the final ten laps. I have to say, it was impressive, with only one caution in their feature, how during the final ten laps those four drivers never touched and anyone of them could’ve won the race.  Kadden Kath was on the back bumper of Steinberg for the entire race and made the pass going under the white flag, only to have Steinberg stay door to door with Kath down the back straight. The low side worked for Kath as they reached lap traffic through 3 & 4 and the Victory lane, “out of breathâ€? interview was classic.

USRA B-Mods: Turned out to be our largest car count, and as good as the track surface was, these drivers were spot on and again the feature had only one caution as Jim Chisholm took the lead from 5th by the end of the first lap on his way to Tralo victory lane in the A-main. Jim’s younger brother Joe finishing second and at times was looking to challenge big brother by showing him a fender more than once. Great to see the family have success as this win made it consecutive deer creek features for Jim. However, this was Joe’s highest career finish…….maybe a sign of things to come for the Chisholm boys?

For the second consecutive week the Super Stocks went Green, White, Checkers. A real credit to the level of talented Drivers.

Adams Grafix, Wissota Street Stocks:  Braden Brauer extended his Deer Creek points lead with a great Feature win. The whole family joined him in the Tralo victory lane which is what makes racing such a great sport. Braden was challenged early, but kept hitting his marks and was willing to run whatever line would work, which shows wisdom beyond his young age…….maybe shows the mentoring from Dad Jeff Brauer who has, “been there, done thatâ€?. Again, exemplifying the benefits of racing being such a great family sport.
