New Faces Score Wins At Deer Creek

Three new faces graced the Tralo Companies victory lane this week at Deer Creek Speedway with their first wins of the season. Two of those won for the first time at the speedway and for one of them it was career first. This week’s program was supported by Podein’s Power Equipment and Weber Auto Parts.

Weather played a factor in the program with the threat of rain to move in. No B-main was ran for the USRA B-Mods and all 28-cars started the 18-lap feature. Brandon Hare jumped from the outside of row one to take the lead with Andrew Bleess and A.J. Hoff hot on his heels.

Jim Chisholm worked to fourth and then challenged Hoff for third. Chisholm drove past on lap four and set after the leaders. Hare and Bleess had a great battle going on for the lead when Kadden Kath struck the wall and came to a stop in turn four on lap five to bring out the caution.

Hare led while Bleess chose the top side of the second row and Chisholm went inside. On the start, Chisholm darted to second, but that was negated by a yellow flag. The next restart Bleess changed his strategy and chose the low side of row two. Chisholm again got the better start, got around Bleess and then went to the low groove. Yet again another yellow came out before the lap was completed.

On the third attempt to restart, Chisholm was again flanked to the outside of Bleess. Bleess remained side-by-side with Chisholm on the start but Chisholm roared around him and then passed Hare for the lead in turn four. Ben Moudry was also on the move from ninth and was up to fourth.

Chisholm pulled away from the pack while Hare, Bleess and Moudry raced for second. Bleess would get past Hare on lap 11, but Chisholm was long gone by then. Hare continued to hold off Moudry and eventually edged away from him. Chisholm picked up his fourth win of the season while Bleess was a distant second. Hare finished in the third position with Moudry in fourth and Hoff was fifth.

 

 

The WISSOTA Street Stocks have had great races every week this season. The 18-lap main event didn’t disappoint once again. Right off the drop of the green flag, the 14-car field was tight and two groups were four and three-wide. It was apparent that kind of action would not last long and there was a collision in turn three that put Danny Richards to the tail of the field.

Jason Newkirk and Fred Prudoehl raced door-to-door for the lead and it was three- wide for third. Braden Brauer’s car was strong on the bottom line on the track and he got to third and then passed Prudoehl and Newkirk for the lead on lap four. Bernie Adams, Brittany Smith and Zach Elward were right there. A yellow on lap five really tightened things up.

On the restart, Elward charged to second, but Newkirk fired right back at him. Kory Adams entered the top five and then passed Bernie Adams for fourth. A yellow came out on lap eight when Kolton Brauer made hard contact with the frontstretch wall. Brauer was uninjured, but was done for the night.

Brauer led on the start with Elward and Newkirk close behind. Nick Schwebach then entered the top five. However, Danny Richards was the car to watch when he raced from the tail and got all the way back up to fourth on lap 11.

Richards then dispatched Newkirk for third on lap 12 and then zipped past Elward on lap 13 for second. Richards used the same low groove as Brauer ran to get there. Richards reeled in Brauer when the laps would down and started to challenge for the lead.

Brauer held his line despite the pressure being applied by Richards. Brauer held on for his first win at Deer Creek with Richards great run found him a close second. Elward finished in third with Schwebach fourth and Kory Adams was fifth.

Dylan Goettl took the lead in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified main event. Ryan Goergen and Jacob Toepper gave chase early on. Goergen challenged on lap three while Don Schaefer tried to take third away from Toepper. Schaefer made the pass and then Mitch Weiss got by Toepper to take fourth. A caution on lap five would slow the race.

Weiss got to third and then challenged Goergen. They were right with Goettl for the lead and Goergen made the pass on lap seven. Kadden Kath was up to fourth and put pressure on Weiss for third. What happened next was pretty bizarre.

Goergen and Goettl made hard contact in turn four and it looked like a big crash was about to ensue with both cars sideways. The yellow came out, but amazingly everyone got straightened out and continued on. Race director Justin Queensland put the yellow on himself as like everyone else thought it was going to be a big wreck and called for a caution to possibly prevent a lot of cars getting tore up.

Everyone got their positions back for the restart. Goergen was the leader, but not for long when Goettl regained the lead and Weiss came along to second. Adam Martinson entered the top five from the 14th spot. Then cars started to drop from the race like flies.

Goergen broke and unfortunately took Martinson off the track with him. Then right after that Schaefer left the track with mechanical issues. That really jumbled up the top five positions. Goettl opened up the lead while Weiss pursued him the rest of the race.

Goettl pulled away and not only got his first win at Deer Creek, it was also his forst career win as well. Weiss finished in second while Kadden Kath was third in is brothers Kobie’s car this week. Jacob Toepper finished in fourth and Liz Toepper was fifth.

The WISSOTA Super Stocks had another strong field this week. Right off the bat, Schatney Sanders and Braden Brauer went three-wide with pole sitter Jeffrey Frey. Sanders and Brauer split Frey and were side-by-side for the lead. Brauer took the lead while Ryan Wiome was third.

Sanders took the low groove and again was even with Brauer for the lead. Wiome was close behind and now Dylan Kromschroeder got to fourth. Sanders took the lead on lap five and brought Wiome with him to second. Jeff Brauer was up to fourth but Brandon Duellman was on the move to fifth.

Duellman passed Brauer on lap five and then passed Braden Brauer for third on lap six. Back up front Wiome challenged Sanders for the lead and Duellman zoomed up close to the lead duo. Duellman and Wiome had a great race for second until Duellman took the spot on lap 13. A caution then came out to tighten thigs up even closer.

Wiome roared to life on the start and stole the lead, Duellman then drove low and challenged Wiome. Duellman took the lead on lap 14 while Kromschroeder drove to third. Kromschroeder then passed Wiome for second while Duellman opened up a bit of a lead. Duellman led the final laps for his second win in a row and third of the year. Kromschoeder would grab the runner up spot. Wiome finished third with Sanders fourth and Jeff Brauer fifth.

Ryan Wetzstein and Dustin Sorennsed led the 19-car USRA Modified field to the green for their 25-lap feature. Sorensen jumped to the lead while Lucas Schott drove up to challenge Wetzstein. Scott made the pass and then J.T. Wasmund got by Wetzstein for third.

Then it was Jacob Bleess’ turn to race with Wetzstein. Bleess took over fourth while Sorensen continued to lead Schott up front. Bleess passed Wasmund for third on lap 10 but a yellow flag came out to negate the pass and slow things down. It would not take long for Bleess to make the pass when the green flag returned.

Bleess zipped past Wasmund as Schott tried to race with Sorensen for the lead. Schott got close a couple of times, but Sorensen ran the cushion to perfection. Wetzstein rallied past Wasmund to fourth and Brandon Davis did the same to take fifth. Davis then moved to fourth in lap 14.

Sorensen led the rest of the way for his first win at the track this season. Schott finished in second with Bleess in third. Davis would end the race in the fourth position and Wetzstein would round out the top five.
