Bleess Wins Modified Thriller At The Creek

This week’s program at Deer Creek Speedway featured the annual “Pink Out� Night� with Join The Journey to raise awareness and money in the fight against breast cancer. There was a 50/50 drawing, donation buckets and a driver push-up challenge for the feature winners. Weber Auto Parts and the Osage Co-op helped support the program.

Twenty-seven USRA B-Mods took the green flag for their 18-lap feature. Jim Chisholm drew the pole position and took the early lead. Brandon Hare stole the lead for a moment, but Chisholm drove back by to reclaim the top spot.

Chisholm opened up the lead and left the pack to battle it out for second. Hare, Garitt Wytaske and Kadden Kath were in the mix while Dustin Kruse cracked the top five.

Kruse worked the low line and got to fourth on lap 10. Kruse kept up his charge and passed Hare for third on lap 13. A caution slowed the race and on the restart Kruse drove to second. A caution with one lap to go set up a green, white and checkered finish.

Chisholm led the final dash for his third win in a row this year. If you go back to 2019 this was his sixth straight at the speedway. Kruse would finish in second followed by Hare in third. Kath finished in the fourth spot and Joe Chisholm was fifth.

Cole Richards led the start of the WISSOTA Street Stock feature. He was pursued by Bernie Adams, Nick Schwebach and Danny Richards. Zach Elward started eighth and quickly moved into the top five. Danny Richards got to third and Elward drove to fourth on lap two.

Cole Richards held the lead but there was a tight six pack of cars behind him. Kyle Genett who started ninth moved into the picture and there was a four wide race for second. Genett, Danny Richards and Elward then narrowed it down to a three wide formation when the yellow flag flew for a spun car.

On the restart, Elward shot to the top of the track and stormed past Cole Richards for the lead on lap five, Genett was now third and he challenged Richards for second. Genett got to second and was right with Elward while Cole and Danny Richards raced for third.

Genett then challenged Elward for the lead and they were door-to-door on lap 10. The remained close until a caution came out when A.J. Zvorak and Bernie Adams got together in turn two on lap 12.

Genett stole the lead from Elward on the restart and led lap 13 with Danny Richards right on their heels. Elward got the lead back, but then Danny Richards took the lead for an instant. Elward was not done and again challenged for the lead.

Elward drove back by with two laps to go and took his second win of the season. Danny Richards wound up second with Braden Brauer’s late race moves getting him to third. Kory Adams would finish in fourth and Genett was fifth.

In the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature, outside pole sitter Kyle Kath took the advantage on the start with Spencer Stock and Mitch Weiss in tow. Those three went at it three wide and Weiss snagged the lead. Kath settled into second while Stock was being pressured by Don Schaefer for third.

Weiss continued to stretch out his lead with Kath second. The race was for third and Schaefer got there on lap five. Dylan Goettl moved to fifth and then went three with Schaefer and Stock for third. The yellow flew on lap six when Goettl collided with Schaefer. Jacob Toepper made hard contact with Schaefer. Schaefer’s night was done and Stock also exited the speedway.

Weiss led the rest of the way for his second win of the season. Kath had to hold off a serious attempt from Ryan Goergen to hang on to second. Goergen was third with Goettl fourth and Kobie Kath in the top five.

Dan Nissalke and Schatney Sanders sat on row one to start the WISSOTA Super Stock feature. Nissalke led lap one, but Sanders scooted past to take the lead on lap two. Neil Eckhart and Ryan Wiome had a great race going for third.

While Nissalke and Sanders battled it out for the lead, Brandon Duellman moved up to challenge Wiome and Eckhart for third on lap six. Back up front Sanders worked the high line and Nissalke was down low. Nissalke threw a slide job at Sanders in turn three on lap 10 and stole the lead.

A yellow on lap 15 would interrupt the race, but it would not deter Nissalke. Nissalke led the final five laps for the win with Sanders in second. Neil Eckhart  came home in third with Dylan Kromschroeder and Wiome in the top five.

Twenty-six USRA Modifieds answered the bell for their 25-lap main event. A yellow on the initial start brought a complete restart. Pole sitter Jacob Bleess took off into the lead followed by Lucas Schott, Josh Angst and Brandon Davis.

Davis raced the low line to take third from Angst before the races second caution came out on lap two. The top three were close when the race resumed. Bleess roared around the top side, while Schott ran low to challenge.

Schott took the lead on lap five, but Bleess rallied on the top side and pulled even with Schott once again. The lead duo remained even with Bleess on the extreme high line and Schott low. Davis reeled in the two and it became a three car tussle while the leaders entered some lapped traffic.

Schott surged back out front on lap 15 and Davis who also used the low groove now challenged Bleess for second. Bleess continued to blast the top side and again drove up even with Schott with Davis right there. Schott took the lead briefly and then the trio went three wide for the lead to end lap 20.

Bleess never gave up on the top and snagged the lead again on lap 21. Bleess led the final four laps to take his second win of the season. Davis ended up in second with Schott third. Dustin Sorensen raced from 12th to fourth and Cory Crapser came from 11th to fifth.
