Four Drivers Take First Wins At The Creek

By: Todd Narveson - Spring Valley, MN (June 8)

Another great night weather wise greeted race fans and racers for action at Deer Creek Speedway. This week’s program was presented by Randy & Sandy Norby, Bob The Bug Man and Express Pressure Washers.

Four drivers scored their first wins of the season this week and one continued his hot start to the season. In the five feature events there was only one caution flag. That came in the final race of the night which was the Modified main event.

The National Fleet Graphics USRA B-Mods had 27-cars start their 18-lap feature race. Brandon Hare jumped from row one and never looked back. Hare had his machine cranked up on the top side and held the lead to the checkered flag.

It was Hare’s first win at the speedway since May 6, 2017. Nick Wagner raced home in second with A.J. Hoff in third. Ryan Maitland would finish in the fourth spot and Kadden Kath rounded out the top five.

Twelve Adams Graphix WISSOTA Street Stocks took the green flag for their feature. Ryan Jacobsen took the early lead while Braden Brauer worked to second and Dustin Doughty charged from eighth to third. Kory Adams was close and the top four ran close in formation for the first five laps.

Brauer slipped past Jacobsen on lap five for the lead, Doughty took second one circuit later. Brauer had his hands full when Doughty put pressure on him for the lead. Doughty took the lead for good on lap ten and pulled away.

For Doughty it was his third win of the season. Brauer ended up in second with Kory Adams in third. Jacobsen finished in the fourth position and Jason Newkirk would finish out the top five.

Tianna Mithun led the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature for the first few laps of the 18-lap feature. Michael Wytaske anb Jason Vandekamp gave chase with Kylie Kath and Ryan Goergen in the mix.

Kath went to the top and Goergen low as they split Mithun for first and second. Vandekamp also got by to third while Goergen now had the lead. Goergen would stretch things out while Kath and Vandekamp had a good race for second.

Goergen led the rest of the way for his first win since June 10, 2017. Vandekamp ended up in second with Kath third. Nick Koehler made a late race pass to finish fourth and Mithun was fifth.

Dennis Dunbar led lap one of the Crenlo WISSOTA Super Stock feature. Kevin Hager and Schatney Sanders hung with him but Neil Eckhart and Jeff Brauer were on the move. Eckhart got to fourth with Brauer fifth and then Eckhart quickly shot past Sanders to third and then Hager for second.

Eckhart used the low groove to zip past Dunbar for the lead on lap four. Brauer drove to third and then second while Dan Nissalke got to third and brought Ryan Wiome with him for fourth.

Eckhart would hold Brauer at bay to get his first win of the season. Brauer finished second with Nissalke in third. Wiome came home in fourth while Sanders would finish in fifth.

Zack Vanderbeek would grab the lead from the start of the 25-lap NAPA Auto Care Centers USRA Modified feature. Dustin Sorensen hung with Vanderbeek but a quick yellow on lap two would slow the race.

Vanderbeek took off from the start but behind him Sorensen now felt pressure from Brandon Davis. Davis used the low groove to take second and While Tony Schill and Jacob Bleess had a good race for fourth. Jason Cummins was close behind that battle on lap five.

Vanderbeek led, but Davis slowly reeled in the leader when the started to encounter lapped traffic. The leaders approached the back of the field and Vanderbeek went high in turn one with Davis low. Davis worked past the lapped car and took the lead.

From there Davis pulled away for his first win at Deer Creek this season. Vanderbeek would finish in second with Sorensen a solid third. Cummins wound up in fourth and Schill was fifth.
