Reps Races Her Way To Victory, Wagner Adds Another Win To His Season
August 11, 2018 Blake Trucking Slingshot races at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN did not disappoint! The weather was hot and dry which made for a slippery, dusty track. Even with these conditions, the skilled slingshot drivers managed to maneuver the track with determination to win.
The Junior feature was led by the 43 of Koby Wagner with the 7C of Curtis Parmenter inside second row. Outside second row was the 59 of Mason Stockhausen. Wagner had a commanding start and was able to pull away from the competition. The 59 of Stockhausen took over the second place position coming into turn one leaving the 7C to settle into third. Wagner never let up stretching out his lead with every lap while the 59 continued to maintain second place. The 7C spun in turn 4 allowing both himself and the 59 one more shot to take the lead on the restart. The 43 of Wagner wasn’t ready to let either into the lead and held on to the checkered flag for the win. He was followed by the 59 of Stockhausen in second and the 7C of Parmenter in third.
The Senior class was led by the 88B of Brady Boland with the 20 of Gage Motl on his outside. Inside second row was the 29 of Lilli Reps with the Kolt34 of Kolton Brauer on her outside. Inside third row was the 8T of Toby Kennedy with the 25 of Joe Chisholm on his outside. Boland got out to an early lead while the 29 of Reps and the 20 of Motl battled for second place. The 88B of Boland was wide coming out of turn two, where the 29 of Reps took her opportunity to take over the lead. On the next lap, the 8T also made a move on the inside of the Kolt34 to take over the 4th place position. Within a few laps the Kolt34 was able to regain the inside edge of the 8T, but as they came in side by side to turn three, the 8T spun around and was charged with the caution. On the restart it was the 29 of Reps still in the lead followed by the 88B of Boland, the 20 of Motl, the Kolt34 of Brauer, the 25 of Chisholm, and the 8T of Kennedy. The 88B found himself sideways coming into turn two collecting Motl, Brauer, and Kennedy in the pileup. The 20 and the 8T were able to continue with damage, but the Kolt34 was forced to pull off. The 88B was charged with the caution, which now put the 20 of Motl into second place, the 25 of Chisholm into third, the 8T of Kennedy in 4th, and the 29 of Reps still leading the pack. The 88B regained fourth place, only to pull off with one lap left. The smooth driving of the 29 maintained the lead for the remaining 9 laps to take home her first win of the 2018 season and her first ever win on the Button Buck track. She was followed by the 20 of Motl in 2nd, the 25 of Chisholm in 3rd, and the 8T of Kennedy in 4th. Congratulations Lilli Reps on the Win!
Heat race winners were the 43 of Koby Wagner and the 88B of Brady Boland.
