Parmenter and Motl Clench The First Wins of the 2018 Season!

Welcome back slingshot race fans! Patience has been the name of the game for this season and for the June 2, 2018 Blake Trucking slingshot race at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley,MN. With no new pee wee drivers this year, the classes will consist of Junior class and Senior class drivers.

The Junior 12 lap feature started with the 7C of Curtis Parmenter on pole with the 43 of Koby Wagner on his outside followed by the 78J of Tucker Jacobs. The 7C of Parmenter pulled out to an early lead ahead of Wagner followed closely by Jacobs in third. Wagner began to stretch out his lead ahead of Jacobs and quickly closed the gap between him and Parmenter. Contact by Wagner trying to get around Parmenter on the last lap created some excitement, but the steady driving of Parmenter kept him out in front allowing him to pick up his first victory of the 2018 season followed by the 43 of Wagner in 2nd and the 78J of Jacobs in 3rd.

The Senior 18 lap feature was led by the K34 of Kolton Brauer with the 20 of Gage Motl on his outside. Inside second row was the 29 of Lily Reps with the 8T of Toby Kennedy on the outside. Third row inside was the 25 of Joe Chisholm. These seasoned drivers were ready to start their 2018 season out fast, maybe too fast, as contact between Motl and Brauer in turn 1 jumbled up the pack and rearranged the running order. All drivers continued to drive out of the turn without a caution, and the 20 of Motl pulled out into first place followed by the 25 of Chisholm, the 8T of Kennedy, the K34 of Brauer and the 29 of Reps. This quickly turned into a follow the leader race where each driver was just looking for the mistake of another to make their move, but each driver held their own for all 18 laps and taking the checkered was the 20 car of Gage Motl followed by the 25 of Joe Chisholm in 2nd, the 8T of Toby Kennedy in 3rd, the K34 of Kolton Brauer in 4th, and the 29 of Lily Reps in 5th.

Heat race winners included the 7C of Curtis Parmenter and the 8T of Toby Kennedy.
