Motl Closes The Gap, Brauer and Jacobs Remain On Top Of The Leaderboard

With only 3 races left in the season, the August 11, 2017 Blake Trucking slingshot races at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN again did not disappoint.  The weather was perfect and all drivers were in attendance.  The Pee Wee feature race was led at the green by the 78J of Tucker Jacobs with the 7C of Curtis Parmenter on the outside.  Jacobs and Parmenter were side by side into turn 1 and 2, but Jacobs was able to pull out ahead of Parmenter.  Jacobs held onto his lead to the checkered to reel in yet another win in his 2017 season.

The Junior feature race was led by the 8T of Toby Kennedy with the K34 of Kolton Brauer on the outside.  The 43 of Koby Wagner started 2nd row inside.   A collision between all 3 cars in turn one brought out an early caution and a complete restart.  The second attempt at a green flag had Kennedy out in front again, but Brauer found an outside path around Kennedy to take over the lead after 2 laps.  Brauer took a dominating lead to the checkered followed by the 8T of Kennedy and the 43 of Wagner in 3rd.  The make-up Junior feature winner from the week prior was the K34 of Brauer getting his second victory of the day, the 8T of Kennedy in 2nd, and the 43 of Wagner in 3rd.

The Senior feature race had the 29 of Lily Reps on pole with the 20 of Gage Motl on the outside.  2nd row inside was the 25 of Joe Chisholm alongside the 77 of Hunter Kennedy.  The 28jr of Devin Born started 3rd row inside.  With the 29 of Reps taking home her first slingshot win the night prior, Motl knew he needed to be on his game.  The 20 of Motl took the high line around the 29 of Reps in lap 1 to take over the lead, while the 25 of Chisholm took the inside line to move up into 2nd place less than a car length behind Motl.  The 28jr of Born now challenged the 29 of Reps for 3rd place.  With only 20 points now separating Chisholm and Motl in the points board, Chisholm continued to put heavy pressure on the 20 of Motl, but Motl stayed out ahead to get his 4th victory of his 2017 season.  Chisholm followed in 2nd, Born in 3rd, Reps in 4th, and Kennedy in 5th.

Heat race winners included the 78j of Jacobs in the Pee Wee class, the 8T of Kennedy in the Junior class, and the 29 of Reps in the Senior class.
