2017 Blake Trucking Slingshot Opener at Deer Creek Speedway

Shanna Motl - May 13, 2017:  Welcome back race fans!  Saturday, May 13, 2017 was opening day for the Blake Trucking Slingshot races at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Mn. 

The Pee Wee class included the 7C of Curtis Parmenter from Albert Lea, MN and the newcomer 78Jr of Tucker Jacobs from Nashua, IA.  With only two cars to battle it out on this opener, the race belonged to the 78Jr of Jacobs picking up his first feature win of the 2017 season!

The Junior class had the returning cars of the K34 of Kolton Brauer out of Eyota, MN, the 43 of Koby Wagner out of Osage, IA, and the 8T of Toby Kennedy, out of St. Ansgar, IA.  The K34 of Brauer started on pole for the first Junior feature slingshot race of the season, but it was the 43 of Wagner pulling his first feature win in the Junior class at the checkered flag.  The 8T of Kennedy followed in 2nd, and the K34 of Brauer in 3rd. 

The senior class had the drivers of the 28jr of Devin Born out of Medford, MN, the 77 of Hunter Kennedy from St. Angsar, IA, the 25 of Joe Chisholm out of Osage, IA, and the 29 of Lily Reps from Lewiston, MN.  The 77 of Kennedy redrew the pole position to start the race with the 25 of Chisholm on the outside.  The 29 of Reps started 2nd row inside with the 28jr on the outside.  The 77 of Kennedy led for several laps, holding off the 25 of Chisholm until the chain of the 77 broke causing him to pull off unable to finish.  At the checkered, it was the 25 of Chisholm followed by the 29 of Reps, and the 28jr of Born. 

Heat race winners included the 7C and the 78Jr in the Pee Wee class, the 34jr in the Junior class, and the 25 in the Senior class.
