This Week at The Creek, The Mascots Return!

FREE admission to anyone wearing a Scout uniform!  FREE camping to Scouts!  FREE admission to kids 12 & under! 

SPRING VALLEY, MN - August 7, 2014:  The ever popular mascot night returns to Deer Creek Speedway this Saturday night.  This special event was rained out earlier this season and as Mother Nature may have won round one, twelve local schools will win round two.  Viktor from the Minnesota Viking’s and Bruiser from the Austin Bruins will join forces with Buck from Deer Creek Speedway and the school mascots to help raise money for a variety of school programs.

A large crowd is expected to be on hand for the action packed weekend as we will also be honoring our youth during Scout Night!  Anyone wearing a Scout uniform will get in for FREE!  Add that to the long standing tradition at Deer Creek Speedway of kids 12 & under getting in for FREE and it makes for a family fun affordable event.  But that’s not all…

CAMPING IS FREE for Scout members this weekend!  That’s right, bring the family and join in the fun!  All this and more will be brought to you by Motl Farms and First Supply.

Saturday will kick off early in the afternoon as the little stars will climb into their cars shortly after their 2:30 pit meeting.  The Truck Country Slingshots will then tackle the recently resurfaced banks of the Button Buck Speedway.  The afternoon events are FREE to watch from the grandstands.  The pressure will be on the JR division as they will be racing their feature event under the lights during the evening’s event.

Shortly after the completion of the afternoon events fans will notice some interesting creatures roaming around the facility as twelve local schools will have their mascots on hand to help raise money to fund a number of school programs.  Schools that have signed up include:  Grand Meadow, Zumbrota-Mazeppa, Kingsland, Riceville, Glenville, Hayfield, Osage, Goodhue, Blooming Prairie, LeRoy-Ostrander, Stewartville, and Decorah.

The Kids Club will meet at 4:30 as the youngsters will have their chance to mine some silver out of the sandbox!  The mascots will be on hand to cheer them on and to challenge them in a game of Bean Bags!

The first green flag is set to fly on Deer Creek Speedway at 6:00 as all five weekly divisions are scheduled to be on hand.  Like the summer temps the track point battles are heating up as this week marks the mid-season point.  Weekly point division classes include the USRA Modifieds, USRA B-Mods, the WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and the WISSOTA Street Stocks.

During the evening event’s fans on hand will get a chance to bid on a number of silent auction items with 100% of the proceeds going to the participating schools.  Some of the items include autographed Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Jimmy Johnson shirts, an autographed Jeff Gordon hat, two sets of tickets to the Minnesota Vikings game on August 16th, an autographed Shariff Floyd football a Harrison Smith Photo and much, much more.

Pit Passes:  Kids 12 & under $15.  Adults $25

2:00  Pit Gate Opens

2:30  Truck Country Slingshot Pit Meeting followed by racing on Button Buck Speedway.

3:30  Driver entry opens for Deer Creek Speedway drivers.

5:30  Draw cut off followed by hot laps.

5:45  Pit Meeting

6:00  GREEN FLAG!
