Stanbrough takes USAC AMSOIL Sprint title at Deer Creek Speedway

SPRING VALLEY, MN - June 22, 2014:  (Photos courtesy of Gulbranson Photo)  The fans were in for a treat tonight with the first ever visit by the USAC Wingless Sprint Cars at the speedway. The action was fast with a couple flips which thankfully everyone was okay. The fans were definitely treated to a show.

The Six Two Graphics WISSOTA Street Stocks were up first for their feature event with Bobby Kilby taking the early lead but Bernie Adams charged around to lead out of turn two. Coming through four a caution flew after hard contact was made by Shaun Mann, Troy Voth, Brent Holland and Dylan Nelson ending all their nights. On the restart Kilby held onto the lead with Jason Barber in second. Mike Blowers quickly worked into the top three as another caution flew on lap three. On the restart Barber got a good start and moved into the lead. The lead was short lived as Blowers worked low and into the lead on lap four. There was a four wide battle for third with Noah Grinstead taking that spot on lap five. Grinstead kept charging and moved past Barber for second on lap seven. Barber than had his hands full with Nick Schwebach who was working back through the field. On lap ten Schwebach took the spot as the remaining laps clicked off. At the finish it was Blowers with the win, Grinstead, Schwebach, Barber and Kyle King rounding out the top five. Blowers, Grinstead and Voth won the heat races.

The Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were up next with Robbie Franklin getting the early lead.  Cory Crapser sat in second. Crapser took over the lead on lap two as Jacob Bleess sat in third. A caution flew on lap four; Crapser continued to lead with Franklin and Bleess in a battle for the second spot. A four car race for fourth saw Dustin Scott finally get the upper hand on lap six.   Bleess and Franklin continued to battle until lap ten when Bleess finally completed the pass for second. Crapser stayed comfortably out in front of Bleess to the checkers. Franklin, Scott and Jared Boumeester rounded out the top five. Heat races were won by Crapser, Franklin and Bleess.

The Wagner Trucking WISSOTA Super Stocks saw a first time winner at the speedway on this night. On the drop of the green AJ Hoff led with Schatney Sanders in second. Jon Duffy sat in third and Kevin Hager in fourth early on. A four car race for fifth with Dave Wiersgalla, Neil Eckhart, Jeff Brauer and Brian Fetting had the crowd's attention. On the third lap Duffy started working low on Hoff up front. Duffy would take the lead on lap five while Wiersgalla had caught up to the battle and moved into second on lap six. Hager would follow through to third on the next lap as a caution flew on lap 8. On the restart Duffy led with Wiersgalla in second. Brauer moved into third while Fetting and Hager battled for the fourth spot. At the finish it was Duffy with his first ever feature win at the speedway. Wiersgalla, Brauer, Fetting and Hager rounded out the top five. Heat races were won by Eckhart and Brauer.

In the USAC Feature Jon Stanbrough was scheduled to start from row-two until Bryan Clauson broke a U-joint on the opening lap, moving Stanbrough to outside the front-row. On the second start, Stanbrough Jumped out front with C.J. Leary in tow. Brady Bacon and Dave Darland stalking him for second. Bacon tried to attack Leary for second, but he had to check up, allowing Darland to get a run and move by for the third spot. Leary tried to slide past Brian Van Meveren, with the two making contact and Van Meveren barrel-rolling through turn-two. Hunter Schuerenberg was on the move on the restart and drove by Justin Grant for fifth just before Jarett Andretti bicycled into turn-one on lap ten and flipped back down into the racing groove, collecting Eric Schulz in a violent collision. Stanbrough held a comfortable lead over Darland and Bacon. The race got exciting again as the leaders got into lapped traffic. Tyler Courtney & Jeff Pellersels made contact in turn-one, with both spinning to cause the final caution. Stanbrough regained control of the race on the restart as Darland tried to keep pace, but he could not challenge him as took home the win. Darland, Bacon, Chase Stockon and Chris Windom rounded out the top five. Tracy Hines led qualifying with a lap of 14.076 seconds. Heat races were won by Hunter Schuerenberg, Keaton Dobbs and Jarett Andretti

Racing action resumes next Saturday with a regular night of racing action for all five classes. Also it is Mascot night with area schools on hand with their Mascots and silent auction fund raising.
