Deer Creek Speedway

The Countdown to the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship has begun!

For the first time since 1988, the “Thunder & Lightning of the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship treks north for a visit to Minnesota thanks to The New Smitty’s Tavern.

SPRING VALLEY, MN - June 16, 2014:   Thanks to the great folks at The New Smitty’s Tavern the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship will head north for a visit to Minnesota for the first time since 1988. Deer Creek Speedway is excited to host the return this Saturday, June 21st, as the wingless warriors are scheduled hit the high banks of the Spring Valley, MN oval for the first time in the history of the series.

“I’m really excited to see Deer Creek Speedway on our schedule. I’m always wanting to race at new places and visit some new areas, and all I’ve heard about Deer Creek is how nice the place is. It should be a fun weekend, and hopefully the fans up north are looking forward to it as much as we are, said back-to-back series champion Bryan Clauson, who will defend his crown in 2014 along with his Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian #20 team

Also competing in front of what’s expected to be a packed house are the WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and the WISSOTA Street Stocks.

Fans will get an extra bang for their buck as the Truck Country Slingshots will be competing that afternoon at 3:00 on the recently resurfaced high banks of Button Buck Speedway located in the middle of Deer Creek Speedway.  Don’t forget that the afternoon events are FREE in the grandstands!

Kids on hand for the event will get to take part in the Deer Creek Speedway Kids Club and the ever popular free face painting.

General admission tickets for the event can be purchased at the ticket window on the day of the event.

Kids 12 & under are $10 and adults are $25.  Pit passes are $35 and can be purchased at the pit gate entrance.

USAC’s last visit to Minnesota was a rare winged event at Jackson won by Danny Lasoski. The Minnesota history runs deep in USAC, however, as legendary drivers Don Branson and Jud Larson won a pair of 1964 races at the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul.

If I was the track record I would be nervous…
